A young man from Shenzhen recently spent 1 million RMB to make himself look like one of China’s most famous faces.
While typically people get plastic surgery to more closely resemble beautiful movie stars like Fan Bingbing, Huang Jian made the less conventional choice of going under the knife to make himself look like Jack Ma, one of China’s richest men, founder of Alibaba, and his own personal hero — but not exactly someone who is noted for his physical beauty.
Huang said that one of the main reasons that he spent a small fortune on plastic surgeries in South Korea is that he hopes to meet Ma in person, People’s Daily reports. As a salesman himself, he plans to enroll at Hupan University, a private college opened in Hangzhou by Ma that teaches young entrepreneurs how to start up their own businesses.
While some are forced to spend 1 million RMB at South Korean plastic surgery clinics, others are simply born “lucky.” For example, there’s this neighborhood security guard who became popular online last year for looking a lot like Jack Ma. The only problem was that he was a bit too handsome.
Of course, more recently, a 9-year-old boy from rural Jiangxi province has had his life changed after pictures showing his striking resemblance to the Alibaba CEO went viral online. Originally, it was reported that Ma would fund his young doppelganger’s education; however, China’s second richest man has since denied these reports.
People have flocked to see the boy in his hometown. Some have brought with them donations and food, but “mini Jack Ma’s” father said that he doesn’t expect anyone to support his son, he only wants the boy to have a good education.
