A flight captain has been suspended from his post for inciting a “protest” of sorts on the apron of a Yunnan airport after his plane was passed over in line for take off.
The Yunnan Lucky Air flight from Xishuangbanna to Kunming was scheduled to take off on November 28th at 12:05 a.m. However, at 12:40 a.m. it still remained on the ground.
It turns out that the flight captain was just as angry about the delay as his passengers. He told them that another plane had been allowed to cut in front of them in line. Mad as hell and unable to take it anymore, he called on passengers to take to the apron and protest this injustice.
Responding to their captain’s call, the passengers disembarked from the plane and then passed the time playing shuttlecock on the apron with airport security halfheartedly trying to stop them.
Following successful negotiations between the airline and the airport, most passengers got back on the plane at 1:00 a.m., though 12 passengers decided that they would rather take another flight, Sohu News reports.
Finally, at 3:00 a.m. the plane lifted off from the airport.
Some of the passengers shot video and took photos of the bizarre incident, which have since spread online. Lucky Air launched an investigation into the case, finding that it was all a big “misunderstanding” between airport maintenance workers and the flight crew. The airline also announced that the flight captain had been suspended from flying over how he handled the incident.
