When a 280-pound pregnant woman was rushed into a Changsha hospital on Monday, medical staff knew they had a big problem on their hands.
Maternity department workers had never come across such a big mama before, and were unsure about some important details, like how much anesthesia to give her.
They called a quick conference and then sent out a distress call to different departments around the hospital. Eventually, 16 medical workers showed up to help out with the delivery…
Which was a success!
Photos from the successful delivery have since gone viral on Chinese social media with netizens expressing their views on the unusual operation.
“Before getting pregnant, you should be aware of this problem. Maybe her weight doesn’t matter to her, but she is about to bear the weight of two lives. She should have lost a few pounds, otherwise she isn’t being a responsible mother,” one Weibo user commented.
“For women, giving birth is never easy. No matter what, she has now become a mother. More than anything else this is a blessed step in her life. I think she is really great,” argued another.
“I just want to know what her husband is like,” pondered another web user.
“Hospital director: ‘This birth costs double,'” wrote one netizen.
“What about some privacy? Getting photographed when you are totally naked giving birth? That’s too much!” commented another web user.
