Early on Christmas morning, one 29-year-old man tried to pull off the heist of the year.
His plan was simple. He would drive an excavator straight into a branch of the China Construction Bank in Meizhou, Guangdoing province, dislodge some of the ATMs and carry them away in broad daylight.
Unfortunately for him, it didn’t quite go down so smoothly. Instead, police arrived quickly on the scene and arrested him. He hadn’t managed to steal any money, though he did severely damage four of the bank’s ATM during the heist.

Further investigation is underway. It’s not clear where the man got an excavator from, but its assumed that he is a migrant construction worker.
Afterward, the man confessed to police that he needed some extra money because of the upcoming Spring Festival.
