With the Chinese New Year on its way, China’s rail network is preparing once again for the largest migration in human history with an estimated 2.98 billion trips expected between January 13th and February 21st of this year.
That’s a 2.2% increase over last year’s madness and it’s expected to stretch China’s extensive public transportation system to the brink once more.
Just as one example, take the bustling city of Wuhan in central China, Hubei’s capital with a population of over 10 million. Before the rush officially began, overhead pictures showed the Wuhan Railway Station stocked full of an insane amount of high-speed trains.
And here’s what the inside of the station looked like over the weekend.
On your marks…
Good luck to all those brave souls traveling at this time of year.
