As much as China excels at putting up buildings, they are just as good at taking them down.
Just after midnight on Saturday, the city of Wuhan carried out a controlled demolition, reducing 19 buildings to rubble in a matter of 10 seconds, using 5 tonnes of explosives in the process.
The seven- to 12-story buildings were cleared away to make room for a high-profile construction projection that promises to include a 707-meter tall skyscraper, which would become the tallest in China and the second tallest in the world behind only Dubai’s 830-meter tall Burj Khalifa.
