More than 40 years after its founding, members of the Jackie Chan Stunt Team surprised their “big brother” last month with an incredible TV reunion that left the martial arts legend and the audience in tears.
The moving moment occurred on the Chinese variety show “The Negotiator,” as veteran JC Stunt Team members spoke on video about the kindness and generosity that Jackie Chan had shown them over the decades, before surprising him in person onstage.
An obviously overwhelmed Chan wiped away tears and thanked the members of his team, which was started back in 1976, for their loyalty and devotion, declaring that they all share in the honorary Oscar that he received last year after 56 years in the film industry.
“For forty years we’ve been through thick and thin, fractured bones, broken limbs,” Chan said. “Sent to hospital at 5 or 6 in the morning. No one sees that at the theater. Even as I receive the Academy Honorary Award, this Oscar is shared among us.”
