A massive explosion lit up the skies of Tongling city in central Anhui province late on Wednesday night.
The huge fireball erupted at around 10:50 p.m. from a boiler explosion at a chemical plant located in a suburban area of the city, local authorities said.
Firefighters arrived on the scene quickly and were able to get the blaze under control.
Despite the explosion’s terrifying size, only two people were injured in the incident, receiving only minor cuts from flying shards of glass. Local authorities added that there were no dangerous chemicals involved in the blast.
Overnight, Chinese social media was flooded with pictures of videos of the enormous explosion.

Unfortunately, terrifying factory explosions are an all too common occurrence in China. Last year, massive blasts at a chemical warehouse rocked the city of Tianjin, leaving a giant crater in the earth and 173 people dead.
