Already bored with Shanghai Disneyland? Not to worry, next year Shanghai will be opening yet another brand-new theme park, this one promises to be very… cool.
The Shanghai Polar Ocean World will cover nearly 300,000 square meters of space near Dishui Lake in Nanhui District. That’s in the far southeastern part of Pudong, a 1.5-hour drive from downtown Shanghai and a half-hour drive from the Pudong airport.
According to Shanghai Daily, there you will find four marine animal interactive programs, three theaters and 15 entertainment facilities all showcasing the wonderful wildlife at the poles, taken to the subtropical for our enjoyment.
The park is now scheduled to open in July 2018. Of course, last time we heard, it was supposed to open in 2017.
But the local Nanhui government has been busy with plans for even more attractions, including a skiing park and the world’s largest planetarium, not to mention some university campuses, in hopes of attracting 450,000 residents and 10 million tourists a year by 2020.
We’ll keep you posted on how that goes.
