Evil-doers beware! There’s a new sheriff in town.
A robot has been tasked with keeping the peace at the Zhengzhou East Railway Station in Henan province, patrolling the waiting hall day and night on the look out for hoodlums.
It’s primary expertise is in facial recognition, able to assist police in automatically identifying criminal suspects in the station. Additionally, it can apparently help passengers at the station and tell you if there’s a fire.
It’s also great with kids.
China is at the cutting edge of robocop technology. Last year, it unveiled a very Dalek-like creation that later went on patrol inside the Shenzhen airport, complete with a cattle prod of justice able to incapacitate terrorist threats, unless they happen to use the stairs.
