An ordinary noodle vendor in Chengdu has managed to catapult himself to superstardom with nothing more than his spirited dance moves and flirty facial expressions.
Earlier this month, videos of the young man joyfully jumping, spinning, and dancing while pulling noodles went viral on Chinese social media turning him into a celebrity overnight. While the guy may seem to be off in his own little world, it’s obvious that he knows how to play to the crowd, sometimes giving the audience coquettish looks, leaving women’s ovaries trembling.
30-year-old Tian Bo revealed to reporters that in his normal life he isn’t such an extrovert. But with the restaurant struggling to stay in business, he decided he had to do anything that it takes to draw in more customers.
Last March, Tian began playing catchy music at the shop and letting the rhythm just take him over. He’s perfected his dance moves and stage presence over time, and now the restaurant is having no problems with attracting crowds.
Tian makes a traditional dish called “Longevity Noodles” (一根面) which originates from the ancient Sichuan town of Huanglongxi. It consists of a single noodle that is stretched to crazy lengths by the chef. While many cooks try to put on a bit of a show when making the noodles, no one adds quite as much flair to the dish as does Tian.
Because of his talents, Tian says that many people have approaching him offering jobs and opportunities. For now, however, he says he plans to stay at the restaurant. One day, he hopes to open his own noodle joint.
With all the attention, we just hope he manages to keep his head on straight.
