Before you go to sleep tonight spare a thought for the poor teachers at this primary school in Hubei province that have to keep up with a mind-boggling 28 sets of twins and triplets
Yesterday afternoon, the students posed together with their siblings outside the school in Shiyan city for a group photograph — clad in the kind of matching clothing that has surely turned the teachers’ lives into hijinks-filled nightmares over the years. Just in Grade 3 alone, there are a total of 8 pairs of twins, along with an additional set of triplets.
Somehow, though, this is not a record. In 2014, one primary school in Henan made headlines with 32 sets of twins, as did another school in Wuhan with 10 pairs of twins in a single class.
As far as we know, no one has yet offered up an explanation for these statistical anomalies occurring in central China. Last year, a village in rural Chongqing hit the news for being home to an insane 39 sets of twins. Locals also were at a loss to explain why.
