套路 (tàolù) literally means set tricks, which originally refer to a series of skills and tricks in Kung Fu. But this year the phrase has gradually been appropriated and become synonymous to a fixed trap employed by people with ulterior motives.
The word is now often used in a set pattern, like the following:
X shì tàolù (something is a trick)
X tàolù shēn (the trick for this is deep, which means, the tricks are so many).
