A giant copper bell suddenly fell at Shanghai’s Jing’an Temple yesterday morning, severely injuring one woman and trapping her underneath.
A photo of the accident was posted onto Weibo yesterday showing the bell surrounded by a pool of blood as firefighters tried desperately to rescue the woman whose leg had been crushed by the bell in the fall, the Beijing News reports.
The woman was then rushed to the hospital where she underwent emergency surgery for her leg. She has now been transferred to the Intensive Care Unit for observation.
It’s not yet known why the bell fell.
