Yet another black swan couple has found out just how cruel humankind can be.
On Saturday afternoon, a man in his twenties wearing a hat and facemask vaulted over a fence inside Yangzhou’s Slender West Lake scenic area and set about snatching up some black swan eggs.
Two swans arrived to defend their eggs, poking at the man with their beaks. However, the man simply turned around and kicked the swans, injuring the wing of one of the birds.
By this point, the man had attracted the attention of a number of onlookers who shouted for him to give back the eggs, while also snapping photos. Instead, he began to stomp on the eggs. Finally, he was pulled out of the area by another man aged around 50 years old.
Afterward, the two swans could only sit sorrowfully by their smashed eggs. One swan lowered its gaze to the ground, while the other raised its head to sky and began to cry.
Unfortunately, the stomper fled the scene without being spotted by security. In response to the incident, the scenic area has promised to step up its security measures. But in a bit of good news, park officials said that neither swan was seriously injured in the attack.
Of course, that’s only counting physical wounds, not emotional ones. Last month, a sorrowful pair of black swans stopped eating after their eggs were stolen by pair of tourists at a scenic spot near Mount Tai in Shandong province.
What makes this even sadder is the sheer pointlessness of the crimes. The black swan eggs are not edible, cannot be incubated again and may burst in hot temperatures if on display.
“If this asshole is caught, don’t sentence him, just crush his tesitcles,” recommended one netizen.
“Our country owns this man’s father a condom,” wrote another.
