Even though it’s only mid-March and the NBA playoffs are still about a month away, it’s never too early to start looking forward to the main event. That’s why we’re excited to announce that the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves will be matching up in Shanghai this October!
The pre-season game will be held at Shanghai’s Mercedes-Benz Arena on October 8th, and will be preceded by a game in Shenzhen on October 5th.
The Warriors are one of the most popular teams in China, and their star player Stephen Curry has visited the country every year since 2013. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves are one of the league’s top up-and-coming teams, hoping to break their 12-year playoff drought if not this season, then next.
Following the NBA’s Global Games last year, Houston Rockets guard Bobby Brown brought great shame to his team and country by carving his name and jersey number on the Great Wall of China. After being hit by an avalanche of angry comments, Brown apologized: “I’m so sorry for this! I apologize I didn’t mean any harm by this, I respect the Chinese culture, I made an honest mistake… I hope you forgive me.”
