In their golden years, many elderly people in China begin to devote themselves more and more to mahjong or square dancing, but one Jilin granny has taken up a slightly more extreme hobby.
Li Jiaxin is an avid paraglider. At 69 years old, she’s also China’s oldest paraglider, and hasn’t let her age slow down her enthusiasm for the extreme sport, though it has kept her out of competitions.
Because of her old age, Li can not get a license to participate in any competitions or events — which is probably good news for her younger would-be competitors.
She began learning how to paraglide in 2008. Since then, she’s mastered the art of floating through the air. While she says she loves the thrill of paragliding, she says she never tries anything too risky, hoping to continue to practice the sport for years to come.
Back in 2014, images of a 81-year-old Chinese granny skydiving for the first time ever in Australia brought happiness and hope to the world.
