When we think about men’s dormitories, this is the general image we get: clothes thrown on the floor, trash scattered all over the place, crumbled papers and random objects piled sky-high on the desk.
However, the immaculate men’s dorm rooms at the People’s Public Security University of China in Beijing threaten gender stereotypes and prove that guys can be clean too — perhaps even cleaner than women.
Photos of the dorms display the rooms’ clean floors, tidy shelves, dust-free desks, and well-organized closets.
Many female netizens responded to these shocking photos by commenting “give me a boyfriend from this university!”
Chinese netizens have also noticed a “trademark” of the students’ tidiness: their blankets folded into a square. Web users commented and poked fun at this occurrence, describing the squares as “slabs of tofu.”
“My boyfriend goes to this university. Once I saw with my own eyes my boyfriend folding the quilt into a slab of tofu,” one female netizen said,
The male students at the university seem to have some sort of cleaning super power; claiming that they are able to restore the orderliness of a room in just a few minutes. A student commented that “turning a chaotically messy dorm room that looks like it just got robbed into one that does not have a single speck of dust only takes five minutes.”
Here is the before and after:
Seeing how the images of these dorm rooms were a big hit on the web, many other male university students joined in on the trend and began to publish images of their own dorm rooms to boast about their own tidiness.
For example, one male netizen settles for a minimalistic style:
This is not the first time that male dormitories in China have shocked the web. A few years ago, images of various male university students lounging in inflatable pools in their dorm rooms during summer went viral. Using this ingenious interior design, the guys were able to stay cool in the hot summer heat.
Who knows what other surprises Chinese male dormitories will bring us? But for the time being, to all the male students out there: don’t forget to take notes!
