At the age when most people are happy to retire, “China’s hottest grandpa” has found himself a new career as brand ambassador for Reebok in China.
80-year-old Wang Deshun is starring in the retailer’s new Chinese ad campaign “Be More Human,” along with more traditional choices, actress Yuan Shanshan and actor Wu Lei.
Wang became an overnight sensation after strutting his stuff on the runway at the 2015 China Fashion Week in Beijing, stealing the show away from his much younger colleagues. Since then, he has applied himself to reshaping popular perceptions in China about what it means to get old, working hard everyday to keep himself young, both in body and in spirit.
Which is why Reebok believes that he’s the perfect person to “inspire people from all walks of life to strive to achieve their full potential through fitness,” and of course buy their shoes.
“Only seriously getting into fitness at the age of 70, Wang’s example has helped reshape China’s views on aging and shown you’re never too old to pursue your goals,” Reebok explained.

Reebok is hoping that Wang can help them become “China’s best fitness brand.” The retailer has already opened up seven new “FitHub” stores across the country, and hopes to open 50 by the end of this year, and 500 by 2020.
