China has unveiled yet another contender for the world’s most terrifying tourist attraction with the opening of a brand-new glass skywalk in Chongqing.
The so-called “Sky Corridor” is an A-shaped walkway that extends out 80 meters from the cliffside at the Wansheng Mountain Scenic Area. It’s modeled after the Grand Canyon Skywalk, which sticks out a mere 21 meters. Yawn.
It opened on Saturday, just in time for the Qingming Festival holiday rush, welcoming over 10,000 tourists during the holiday period. To attract even more visitors, park officials have sent in their application to the Guinness Book of World Records, hoping to get their new bridge named as the longest cantilever bridge in the world.
Chongqing municipality appears to be trying to make a name for itself as the glass bridge capital of China. Back in 2015, a horseshoe-shaped glass skywalk opened there. Though it isn’t quite as much of an eyesore at only 26 meters in length.
