A Shanghai firefighter has become a viral star after pulling off one of the greatest comebacks of all time in a local 200-meter race.
The race was part of a spring competition held in Shanghai’s Qingpu District for local firefighters. Participants had to run 200 meters while carrying water hoses in both hands weighing 12kg in total.
At the start of the race Yan Mengdi slipped and dropped one of his hoses, leaving him well over 10 meters behind his competitors. But Yan didn’t give up. In a video, posted to Weibo by the Shanghai Fire Fighting Bureau, he suddenly pops back into view as the runners near the finish line before incredibly outsprinting them for the gold.
The Buffalo Bills in 1993, the Boston Red Sox in 2004, and now, Yan Mengdi in 2017.
Truly impressive. But how fast can he climb a wall?
