Shanghai authorities have now restored the dignity of our fair city by covering up a controversial statue of a man taking a piss.
Earlier this week, the statue caught the eye of residents taking walks with their kids near the International Fashion Center in Shanghai’s Yangpu District. Parents soon raised a fuss with the district authorities, calling the urinating statue lewd, offensive and not in good taste.
Everybody’s a critic.
Though apparently even “art experts” believed that the statue was too “realistic” to be placed outdoors in a public space, advocating for its removal, according to report from ChinaNews.
Yangpu authorities have responded by covering up the statue in a red tarp. Explaining that the developer never got permission for the statue, officials have ordered a replacement statue to be put up in its place pronto.
We’ve got just the thing!
