When choosing a place to live it’s always important to consider a home’s location; its nearness to schools and disaster areas.
Over the past year, one unfortunate Heilongjiang family has witnessed 48 cars crash into their yard, and even sometimes into their home — which is regrettably placed right in front of a sudden 90-degree turn.
According to China Youth Daily, the family’s problems all started in 2010 when a new highway was built leading straight to their home and those problems have continued with unceasingly regularity since then as drivers find out too late that they aren’t able to slow down in time.
Multiple times, the family has petitioned the local government to do something about this dangerous situation, but so far to no avail. Authorities have told 29-year-old Xu Renxiang and her family that the fault lies not with the road, but with the drivers themselves. However, officials have at least appeared open to offering enough compensation to allow the family to move into a similar home in a less dangerous neighborhood.
Though, even with the constant car crashes, Xu says that she doesn’t want to give up her home. For the time being, the only thing protecting the family is a giant yellow warning sign reading “Slow,” though that doesn’t seem to be having much effect.
