A middle school teacher has been suspended from his job after he was exposed administering some extreme “corporal punishment” on his students.
Photos posted to Chinese social media show a student at a Sichuan middle school kneeling down outside and being whipped with an extension cable by his teacher as other students look on and wait their turn.
According to the Sichuan Daily, the teacher had become angry at some of his students after they had failed to recite their homework from memory. In his rage, the teacher forced the forgetful students to stand up for the entire class before taking them outside for a whooping. Along with extension cord whipping, the teacher also reportedly punched and kicked them around the ears, presumably hoping to leave an impression in their brains.
After the photos leaked online the teacher surnamed Zhou was quickly suspended from his job while the school carries out an investigation into the incident. It’s not clear if the teacher will receive any further punishment. Of course, Chinese web users have said that authorities should allow his students to teach him a lesson in return.
It appears that tensions are currently running high in Chinese classrooms. Last week, a primary school teacher was caught on video dragging a little girl across the ground by her hair. When confronted, she pretended that the girl was her own daughter.
