While some fathers and mothers would do absolutely anything for their children, others are a bit more laissez faire when it comes to parenting.
In the southern city of Dongguan yesterday, a pair of parents left their 1-year-old napping in a locked car while they went out to do some shopping. When the toddler woke up, they were nowhere to be found. Terrified, the kid began to cry.
Fortunately, the crying child was eventually noticed by passersby who contacted the police. In a video that has been shared on Chinese social media, officers are seen breaking in the car’s window and rescuing the child who is drenched in sweat after spending 40 minutes inside the vehicle.
It’s not clear if the parents will face any repercussions for their alarming act of carelessness, but Chinese netizens hope that they know how lucky they are to still have a child. “Parents nowadays go out and remember to take their kid, but not their brain,” commented one Weibo user.
