China continues to show off its strength as a global superpower, breaking yet another inane world record last week.
Last Thursday, 795 people in the Shanxi capital of Taiyuan washed their hair outside with shampoo simultaneously. For their efforts, they were awarded with a plaque from Guinness World Records. It’s not clear what the previous record was.
The record-breaking event’s organizers said that through this activity they hoped that residents would let their worries wash away and be happy. However, Chinese netizens are feeling more weary/annoyed with the whole thing.
“I don’t understand what these kind of world records that require no skill are for,” reads one comment with more than 23,000 likes.
Along with hair-washing, China also proudly holds the world records for dumpling-making, facial mask-applying and Japanese maid costume-wearing.
