One passenger on a plane preparing to take off from the Beijing airport yesterday morning let her curiosity get the better of her, causing the plane’s evacuation slide to deploy right after she was warned against doing so by a flight attendant.
According to a Weibo user, the flight crew aboard the Xiamen Airlines plane had just finished their safety demonstration to passengers — which included telling travelers not to touch the emergency exit lever in non-emergency situations — when one woman, her interest piqued, touched the lever and accidentally deployed the slide.
Of course, this is hardly the first time that a Chinese passenger has accidentally deployed the evacuation slide on a plane for an idiotic reason. Past motives include: being in a hurry to disembark, mistaking the emergency exit for the bathroom door and wanting to get some fresh air.
Previously, it’s been reported that the cost for the airline of deploying an emergency slide is 100,000 yuan. The airline may now seek compensation from the woman, resulting in a rather expensive plane ticket.
