A familiar sort of tragedy struck at an intersection in Fuqing, Fujian province yesterday with a bus taking a sharp turn straight into an elderly cyclist who was riding the wrong way down the road.
Knocked off his bike and run over, the old man ended up trapped underneath the bus. Quickly, dozens of onlookers became good Samaritans, rushing out into the intersection to help lift up the bus and rescue the man.
Unfortunately, however, they were not successful.
But firefighters arrived shortly afterward, managing to lift up the bus and drag out the elderly man who suffered only some bruises in the accident.

Of course, this follows an infamous incident earlier this year in Henan province in which a woman was hit by a car and then run over again by another vehicle more than a minute later while passersby did nothing to help her.
While in this case, the pedestrians may not have been able to rescue the elderly man from underneath the bus, at least they tried.
