China’s toughest 9-year-old created some commotion on the streets of Guangzhou on Friday by taking a stolen bus out for a quick joyride.
Startled pedestrians captured video footage of the little kid behind the wheel of the big bus at around 2:00 p.m. that afternoon. Police responded to reports from concerned locals, but it wasn’t until 40 minutes later that they finally got the kid to stop. During that time, he impressively managed to avoid hitting anyone or anything.
Police took the boy back to the police station where he responded to their questions by covering up his face with his hands. It’s not clear how exactly the 9-year-old managed to steal the bus, but video does show the vehicle’s front door smashed in.
Because of his age, he was reportedly not charged with any crime and released to his parents who presumably made him go to bed without dinner.
