Get ready to have your faith in humanity tested…
Surveillance footage from Yichang, Hubei province shows a 17-year-old boy leaping off a bridge to his death early last Friday morning, leaving behind only a cell phone on the sidewalk. About six minutes later, a woman is seen bending down to pick up the phone before hustling away.
The teen’s grieving sister has been trying desperately to get that phone back. On Sunday, someone finally answered her calls to her brother’s cell phone. When she asked who she was talking to, the person on the other end of the line said that she had found the phone discarded on the bridge. After the sister explained that the phone was her brother’s and asked for it back, the woman quickly ended the call.
But, a short time later, she called back demanding money. The sister responded that she would pay anything to have the phone back. However, the woman soon changed her mind about the plan, saying that it would be too much trouble to hand over the phone, she told the sister that she had decided to keep it.
Since then, the cell phone has been turned off. The boy’s sister has no way of contacting the woman.
In an interview with local reporters, the sister said that she wants the phone back so desperately because she thinks it may hold clues as to why her brother decided to end his life.
