In order to make the shopping experience more pleasant for both sexes, a Shanghai shopping mall has launched four so-called “husband relaxation booths,” which provide men with all the distraction their hearts could desire, while their wives are out shopping ’til they drop.
The pimped-out “man caves” are located inside Shanghai’s sprawling Global Harbor mall as part of an innovative one-month trial measure. While their wives and girlfriends are out shopping, men can simply kick back on a comfy chair inside the private booths, which also come equipped with a television and video games.
According to The Paper, most men so far have described the stalls as a godsend, though, perhaps a bit of a sweaty one, suggesting that the mall should really outfit them with some air-conditioning and ventilation.
However, women are less pleased with the booths. One woman worried that she would get bored shopping alone, while another feared that shopping would actually take longer if her husband entered one of these fun-filled stalls. “What if I’m done shopping, but he still isn’t finished with his game? Isn’t this making things worse?” she said.

Late last year, another Shanghai mall introduced a similar innovation — the “husband nursery” — which while certainly roomier, looks a bit less fun.
