With her 1-year-old locked in a sweltering car inside a Chongqing parking deck, one mother apparently still had the wherewithal to remain financially prudent.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, ready to quickly bust open the car’s window to save the toddler, the mom had one question for the rescuers: which window would be the cheapest to replace?
After being told by the firefighters that the passenger side window would be the cheapest, the woman finally gave the rescuers the go ahead to shatter the window and save her child.

The mother’s frugality has ignited outrage online with many declaring that she obviously cares more about money than she does her own kid. Similar criticisms were thrown against another careless mother earlier this month, who, after police rescued her unconscious child from inside a locked car, could only ask officers who exactly was going to pay to repair her broken window?
Back in 2015, a mother in Yiwu refused to let rescuers break open the window of her BMW even as her 3-year-old son frantically clawed around and cried inside, insisting on instead waiting for a locksmith to arrive so that she wouldn’t have to fork out cash for repair work.
