One Chinese student pushed the limits of neighborly kindness to new extremes recently after leaving his car parked in an elderly couple’s driveway before going home for the summer.
The Ebenezers, a retired couple living in Aberystwyth, a town in West Wales, returned home one day to discover a black Citroën parked in their driveway with a note left by the car’s owner:
Hi, it’s Jack from Glan Rheidol, thank you so much for let me park my car here, if you don’t mind, can you help me to take care of my plant as well please.
I will bring some present from China for you. If there is any problem, please call me. I will be back at 15 September. Thank you so much.
Apparently, Jack, identified as a Chinese student renting a property across the road, did not first consult with the Ebenezers before leaving his car (and cactus) parked in front of their home, something that the retired couple finds a wee bit bothersome. “Looking out through the window, all you see is this black car. It is very, very annoying. It is parked on our property,” Tom Ebenezer told the local Cambrian News.
Meanwhile, police and town officials have said that they are powerless to do anything about the vehicle, presumably since it’s parked on private property, warning the Ebenezers that if they want to remove the car they must be careful with it or they could be held liable for any damages.
This had better be a good present that Jack’s bringing back.
