While you might think that losing both of your arms would disqualify you from work as a courier, Zhao Haifeng has other ideas about what is possible.
Zhao lost both of his arms in an electrical accident when he was just three years old. Without arms, he has found it difficult to find a steady job, but for the past few years he has been supporting his family as a delivery man, rising each morning at 5:30 a.m. and delivering about 100 packages each day.
In a video put together by Pear Video, Zhao shows how he’s able to write down addresses, wrap packages and make deliveries. He even shows off his customized delivery bike which allows him to drive and steer without hands.
“If I try my best nothing is impossible,” he tells reporters, adding that he just has to work harder than everyone else.
When he’s making his deliveries, his wife also accompanies him to help him out. She suffered from polio at a young age, leaving her with permanent difficulty walking.
Zhao says that each month he makes around 2,000 to 3,000 yuan, enough to put food on the table for his family. He says that all he wants to do is work to provide for his family and make sure that his daughter will have the best education possible.
