A video of workers being made to drink toilet water for not reaching training targets has left Chinese netizens appalled, wondering how far they would go to keep their jobs.
In the stomach-turning clip, one male employee is seen scooping water out of a squat toilet and inspecting it for several seconds, before putting the cup to his lips, while another woman drinks the water down with extreme hesitation.
According to a report from the Beijing News, the employees work for a photography studio in Sichuan’s Guang’an city and were being punished for their lackluster performance. Afterward, one of the female workers said that she suffering from diarrhea from the punishment and couldn’t even eat rice without wanting to throw up. The person who filmed the video has been arrested by local police and put in detention for 4 days.
The video was uploaded to the employees’ WeChat group before being leaked and going viral. A manager at the company claims that the video was not recorded at the company, but merely disseminated on the social media group as a way of “motivating” staff to work harder. Police are currently investigating the incident.
In case you are in need of some “motivation” at work, watch below:

In the past, Chinese companies have also attempted to “inspire” their workers by forcing them to kowtow, be spanked on stage and gulp down some bitter gourd.
