Dog lovers might want to give this post a miss.
Yesterday, a photo of a golden retriever being dragged along behind a vehicle on a road in Haining, Zhejiang province ignited outrage online. The driver of the car has since expressed regret over the incident, claiming that he did not know the dog was there.
The dog’s owner told local media that his golden had slept under his car the night before. When his friend arrived that morning asking to borrow the vehicle, he gave him the keys, forgetting that his dog’s leash was still attached.
Apparently, it took some time for the driver to finally notice that he was dragging a dog behind him. After realizing what had happened, he took the dog to a local veterinarian’s office for treatment.
Fortunately, the golden retriever’s injuries were not serious and Qiuqiu is expected to make a full recovery.
Meanwhile, both men have become the target of fury online with some netizens calling for local officials to take the dog away from its owner, while others expressed their skepticism at the driver failing to notice the dog’s leash tied to the driver’s side passenger door.
Last year, an angry mob attacked one driver in Shandong who was caught driving down the road in an SUV with a dog tied to the back being helplessly dragged to its death.
