A degustation with wines from BottlesXO and pastries from PÂTE.
Forget the fish. Throw out the steak. Instead, it’s desserts that share the stage at this food and wine pairing at French bakery PÂTE, who is teaming up with booze delivery app BottlesXO for an evening of wine and sweet treats.
Starting at 6.30pm on Saturday, August 19, the first-ever When Cakes Meet Wines features five wines – two whites, a red, a rosé, and a bubbly – matched with pastries from lemon tarts to dark chocolate.
Try a Sauvignon Blanc from Bordeaux house Chartron La Fleur, who’s lively acidity is matched with a lemon thyme tart, or a rich white wine from Sicilian producers Feudo Maccari paired with a peach sponge cake.
Marrenon in the Rhone Valley makes its rosé with some gravitas, and this profile marries it to the deep flavors of a fresh fig tart. For something more delicate, Ca’ di Alte’s Prosecco has fine bubbles with a dry and clean finish, which complements a white peach glacé.
Rounding off the night is a wine from Feudo Maccari again. This time, it’s their Nero d’ Avola, a red wine that is intriguing and structured, with a brawn that stands up to the richness of a dark chocolate Religieuse.
