A shocking video has incited outrage on Chinese social media today, showing a police officer body slamming a woman to the ground, apparently unconcerned about the child in her arms.
In the video, a woman holding a toddler can be seen arguing with a police officer on the sidewalk. As the woman approaches the officer, he suddenly slams her to the ground, resulting in the child flying from the woman’s arms and also crashing down hard on the pavement.
Immediately, bystanders rush out to check on the toddler while the officer restrains the woman. Another video circulating on WeChat shows two officers holding the woman to the ground while the child cries in the background.
In yet another video from the scene, one officer is seen holding the child in one arm while his colleague continues to press the woman to the ground.

Shanghai police have confirmed that the incident occurred at around 10:30 a.m. earlier today in Songjiang District. The officers involved have immediately been suspended pending investigation and police have admitted that the officers acted “wrongly” in dealing with the situation. The woman’s alleged crime which caused police to confront her? Illegal parking.
The woman and the child were both taken to the hospital following the incident. The woman sustained soft tissue injuries to her face and neck while the little girl had bruises on her arms.
