Owners of a Nanning neighborhood day care got quite the surprise recently by the appearance of an unexpected guest — a 1-meter-long alligator.
Fortunately, the creature was quickly contained before anyone could be injured. Later, police showed up and were able to snare the gator.
It turns out that the alligator had escaped from an apartment on the floor above where it was being kept as a pet. Following the incident, police did not return the gator to its owners, fearing that the animal might escape again, instead dropping it off at the zoo.

Last year, some 92 alligators escaped from a farm in Anhui province amid severe flooding. A short time later, officials told locals not to worry because “most” had been caught.
