Yet another video has gone viral online, exposing China’s troubling shortage of good Samaritans.
In the video, an elderly man is seen hustling across a busy road in Zhuzhou, Henan province before stumbling and falling down on his face. The man stays lying on the street for more than a minute as cars, buses and motorcycles weave their way by him.
A total of more than 22 vehicles passed the man by, with none of them stopping to help.
Eventually, the driver of a bus comes out to help the man up and escort him to the safety of the sidewalk.
The video has sparked yet more anger online, reminiscent of an infamous incident earlier this year in which a woman was hit by a car while crossing a busy intersection, leaving her lying motionless on the road alongside the crosswalk. Afterward, dozens of pedestrians and drivers passed by without a care before the woman was run over a second time, ending her life.
