On Sunday afternoon, a severely depressed middle-schooler stood on the ledge of the roof of a 17-story building in Guizhou’s Duyun city and thought about jumping off to her death.
Firefighters soon arrived on the scene, but, eventually, the girl ordered the rescuers to back off, along with her friends and family.
In their place, an unlikely hero was allowed to step forward, the girl’s principal. In video shot by firefighters, the principal can be seen slowly leaning over to grab the girl’s shirt and pull her back to safety in a daring maneuver that ended up saving the day.
