Let it never be said that Jack Ma does not know how to make an entrance.
At this year’s Alibaba Annual Party in Hangzhou, China’s richest man showed just what all that money can buy. In the wake of video clips showing asteroids hurtling down toward Earth, presaging humanity’s doom, a mysterious figure on a motorcycle appears on stage.
He is dressed kinda like Michael Jackson, complete with the single white glove, while wearing a sparkly mask that appears to be have been taken from a local BDSM shop.
After dancing a bit to “Billie Jean” (sadly, no moonwalk) the mystery man takes off his mask to reveal his true identity: Alibaba CEO Jack Ma.
After showing his love for the gathered masses, Ma stars in a Michael Jackson medley dance number with other Alibaba employees which seems to be from a dystopian future where everyone is a bad dancer.
Finally, Ma gets back on his black motorcycle, but instead of riding off into the abyss, he is lifted off into the sky. Perhaps, back into space as an asteroid? Dunno, honestly, we’re a bit lost.
Seriously though, watch below:
Chinese CEOs have a tradition of making spectacles of themselves at annual company get-togethers. From “Karaoke King” Wang Jianlin to “Zorro” Robin Li.
In the past, Jack Ma has even appeared on stage in a frilly dress.
And, umm, this.
But this year’s performance is gonna be hard to top.
