Let this story of a brave, but foolish, 11-year-old kid from Shenzhen be a cautionary tale for us all.
As seen in CCTV video, the kid not only attempted to take his bike up an escalator, but he also decided to remain sitting in the saddle while attempting this feat.
After the incident, the boy’s parents reassured the public that their kid was fine, suffering just an injury to the neck that required six stitches.
Still, it’s not advisable to do anything to somehow make China’s escalators even more dangerous. Back in June, a 4-year-old boy’s arm was ripped off by an escalator right in front of his horrified mother.
Overall though, the number of escalator-related accidents has decreased in China over the past year or so. Back in 2015, the country’s escalator epidemic was so severe that it forced some to take extreme precautions before riding one of these death contraptions.
Let’s hope we never return to those dark, dark times.
