Bad news, guys. Fan Bingbing is engaged. On her 36th birthday last Saturday, Chinese actor Li Chen put a ring on China’s most famous, and well-paid, actress.
A short time later, the couple announced their engagement with Li posting on Weibo, “It’s us, forever.” And Fan responding “Forever and ever.” Combined, those posts racked up well over 4 million likes.
One photo showed Li, 38, getting down on one knee to pop the question on stage at Fan’s birthday bash. Afterward, he admitted to being so nervous that he felt like he could die. Fan’s mom assured him that “You’re my other son,” and told the couple, “No matter what, you two will always have each other.”
The two then went on to attend the Golden Rooster Awards, China’s version of the Oscars, in Hohot, where Fan took home the Best Actress prize for her role in I Am Not Madame Bovary, getting to show off her new bling in the process.
Afterward, Fan took to Weibo once again to talk about how awesome her life is. “I think my life is perfect! I don’t want the stars from the sky, I just want to experience the pleasures here on earth! I am very happy! And very lucky! Thank you all for loving me!” she wrote to her fans.
Li and Fan reportedly first met back in 2014 on the set of the ultra-popular Chinese costume drama The Empress of China. After the two confirmed their relationship in 2015, Li was forced to speak up about allegations that Fan had stolen him away from his ex, actor and model Zhang Xinyu.
This year, Fan herself was forced to fend off accusations from exiled billionaire Guo Wengui that she had previously slept with Wang Qishan, China’s top graft-buster, now 68.
