In China, we’ve already seen shareable bicycles, umbrellas, napping capsules, workout pods, luxury cars, stools and sex dolls. Some of these ideas have been more successful than others. But now, how about shared basketball courts?
Recently, the first one of these new facilities opened in Shanghai on Xinma Road just outside of Jiaotong Park in Zhabei District. To get in, you simply have to scan a QR code with your phone.
Inside, you can scan another code to get a ball…
… and start hooping.
Once you’re done you can scan again to get out and the cost of your visit will automatically be deducted.
According to Knews, the concept of shareable sports fields is currently being experimented with in Shanghai. If things go well, we could see sharable basketball courts, badminton courts and table tennis areas popping up around the city.
Already, the idea has been pretty well-received online with netizens celebrating the fact that at least dancing aunties won’t be able to get in.
