Alibaba founder Jack Ma was in Sochi last week for the Valdai Club discussion panel, where he shared the stage with Russian President Vladimir Putin and expressed interest in partnering with Russian leadership to develop the country, rt.com reported.
During the panel, the entrepreneur touched on his philosophy of strong leadership, rehashing boilerplate language about such admirable qualities as hard work and team building.
“To be a leader is tough. And to be a leader I think is very lonely,” he said, as the camera filming the event panned to a close-up of Putin’s face.
The Russian president appears to be on the verge of tears, pressing his lips together tightly, with his eyes cast downward. One can’t help but think from the frame that Putin is deeply moved by Ma’s words and that tears will soon begin to well in his eyes.
