Nowadays, you can rent almost anything in China, from fake girlfriends to real sex dolls, but, recently, a woman ignited controversy online with a story about how a primary-schooler had offered to pay her to attend a parent-teacher meeting as his “mom.”
The woman wrote on her WeChat Moments that she took an order on 即刻约, a dating app that allows users to pay someone to spend time with them for things like watching a movie together, only to find that the order was in fact placed by a primary school student.
In the screenshots that the woman shared of their conversation, the boy tells her that his father is always away on business trips and his teacher had become mad at him after no one showed up at previous parent-teacher meetings. The boy said he would pay the woman 500 yuan ($75) to pose as his mother and attend a two-hour meeting with his teachers.
It’s unclear if the woman actually went through with the deal and attended the meeting.
One net user shared a similar story about how he had tried to hire the ice cream lady outside his school to attend his parent-teacher conference, only to get busted after his teacher recognized the ice cream lady. Others were mainly concerned about the child being ignored by his father who apparently isn’t showing much interest in his child’s education.
