Shanghai Art Fair 2017 is back once again. Founded in 1997, the event has established itself as the go-to place for domestic art, while bridging the gap between the art scene in China and the world.

Mika Ninagawa solo exhibition @ Lafayette Arts & Design Centre
This exhibition is a showcase of Mika Ninagawa’s nearly 20 years of work, displaying cross-boundary dynamism using a variety of media. She is famous for her joyful, hyper-colorful depictions of flowers, fish, and teen idols, all given her signature treatment dubbed “Ninagawa color” by art critics.

Miracle: The Bellini Family and the Renaissance @ Shanghai Himalayas Museum
This exhibition features 459 masterpieces of art from the Renaissance onward, including paintings, sculptures, manuscripts, furniture, decorations, tapestries, and tableware as well as crowns from noble families. New media and virtual technology will also recreate the Bellini Museum in Shanghai, offering audience a chance to vividly experience the culture and life scenes of Florence during the Renaissance.

Hermes Heritage exhibition: Harnessing the Roots @ Hermes Maison
Shanghai is the first stop on Hermès’ worldwide exhibitions on its culture and heritage. The exhibition covers equestrian equipment such as bridles, bits, saddles, and hoods, referencing the French luxury house’s origins as a harness maker and the ways it has influences bags, garments, and accessories throughout the brand’s 180-year history.

Rhapsody: When Fashion Meets Art @ PLAZA 66

CURRENT: Contemporary Art from Scotland @ Shanghai Himalayas Museum
Comprised of two solo exhibitions from Bruce McLean and Ross Sinclair, the third phase of CURRENT illuminates how different experiences of “the contemporary” are constituted in time. In a walk, a well-rehearsed move, or a polished rhetorical phrase, the incidental is transformed by time into moments of utterance, appearance, and manner that inherently matter.

Antony Gormley: Still Moving @ Long Museum
This is the first major presentation of Antony Gormley’s work in China. At its core is Critical Mass II, an installation of 60 life-size cast iron body forms. Some of the bodies are installed in a line, some are suspended in a fall, others lie scattered or form a jumbled pile. A seminal piece that has been featured all over the world.

Fantastic Color Bar @ Ying Art Center

Originally commissioned for the 2016 Sydney Biennale, this is the first time this series will be exhibited in China.
