n case you missed it, yesterday was China’s “I Love You” Day and one woman decided to celebrate the occasion by nearly biting her boyfriend’s tongue off.
Video has gone viral on Chinese social media showing a couple locked in a tight lip-embrace that the man is trying desperately to break free from, on the street in Anhui’s Qianshan county. But, even as her partner screams out in pain and police try their best to pry the two apart, the woman refuses to let go of her sweetheart’s tongue.
Can’t say the safe word if you can’t move your tongue.
Eventually, police were forced to use tear gas on the woman to get her to let her boyfriend go. The guy’s tongue was in bad, bloody shape, but had not been torn off.
“I Love You” Day, also known as China’s Internet Valentine’s Day, is celebrated each year on May 20th, inspired by the fact that in Chinese the numbers “5-2-0“ sound like “I Love You.”
It’s not clear why such a phonetical association caused the woman to bite her boyfriend’s tongue with such gusto and not let go. Most netizens have surmised that the woman is likely mentally unstable and that the boyfriend was lucky that it was only his tongue that she decided to chomp down on.
