Two people have been arrested following a “racist attack” made more than a month ago against a Chinese student in Spain.
Zhang Dantong, a Chinese student studying in Malaga, says that she was bullied by a group of Spanish teens on an early-morning train heading to the seaside city on April 29th. Zhang posted about the incident on Facebook, writing that the teens had hit her on the head and made fun of her accent with one of them even throwing a cigarette at her, calling her “Puta China” (Chinese whore), and telling her to “go back to your fucking country.”
In her Facebook post, Zhang, who also goes by the name of Iris, appealed for help in identifying and finding the teens who had bullied her, posting a photo of one of them.
Zhang’s appeal now has more than 2,400 shares and over 1,000 comments, many of them voicing support for her search for justice.
“Really sorry but this doesn’t represents Spanish people. There are idiots everywhere. And again appologies from all the spanish people,” writes one Facebook user.
The story also caught the attention of media in both Spain and China. Earlier today, The Paper reported that a police investigation into the incident had finally yielded results, with two people being arrested.
